Steve Brooker headed home in the third minute of injury time to give Bristol City a 2-1 win over Norwich which sent them back to the top of the Championship.

Brooker, who returned from a loan spell at Cheltenham only last week, nodded Michael McIndoe's cross past Canaries goalkeeper David Marshall to give his side maximum points.

Gary Johnson's side had taken the lead four minutes before half-time when Dele Adebola finished from close range, before Norwich levelled through Darren Huckerby in the 70th minute.

The Robins move a point clear of Stoke, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Striker Richard Cresswell put the Potters ahead in the 21st minute, but Owls midfielder Franck Songo'o levelled eight minutes from time.

Goals from James Morrison and Roman Bednar in injury time gave West Brom a 4-3 victory over bottom side Colchester in a thrilling game at The Hawthorns.

Chris Coyne (14) and Medy Elito (17) had given United a two-goal lead, but Kevin Phillips (36) and Chris Brunt pulled the Baggies level.

Kevin Lisbie's 76th-minute strike looked as if it had given the visitors all three points. But Morrison levelled with a 20-yard strike in the first minute of added time, and Bednar stole the points two minutes later.

Hull's promotion charge continued as they claimed a 3-0 win over a Watford side reduced to 10 men at the KC Stadium.

Michael Turner broke the deadlock in the first minute, before on-loan Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell (13) and Caleb Folan (73) sealed the points - while Hornets striker Steven Kabba was sent off in the 75th minute.

In the day's late kick-off Karl Henry scored in the fifth minute of injury time to give Wolves a 3-2 win over Charlton which lifts them into the play-off zone at the expense of Ipswich.

Wolves had led 2-1 after Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (15, 81) struck either side of Greg Halford's 31st-minute goal before Leroy Lita thought he had salvaged a point for Alan Pardew's side when he equalised in the second minute of injury time.

But Henry's close-range finish from a Kevin Kyle cross gave Mick McCarthy's side all three points at The Valley.

Plymouth's play-off hopes were hit as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Coventry which eased Chris Coleman's relegation worries.

Two goals from Michael Doyle (37, 43) and one from Jay Tabb (65) gave the Sky Blues a three-goal lead at the Ricoh Arena, before Steven MacLean's 82nd minute consolation.

Ipswich were held to a 0-0 draw by QPR at Portman Road, while fellow play-off contenders Crystal Palace were also held to a goalless draw at home to Blackpool.

Burnley kept alive their play-off bid with a 2-1 win over Barnsley at Turf Moor.

Wade Elliott (30) and Kyle Lafferty (36) put the Clarets ahead. Brian Howard pulled a goal back two minutes before half-time, but the Tykes were unable to find an equaliser.

Paul Parry's sixth-minute strike gave Cardiff a 1-0 win over Southampton, which left the Saints a point above the relegation zone.

Scunthorpe remain eight points adrift in the relegation zone after Lee Hendrie's 41st-minute goal gave Leicester a 1-0 win at the Walkers Stadium.

Neil Mellor (63, 90) netted twice to help Preston to a 3-1 win over 10-man Sheffield United at Deepdale.

Callum Davidson (28) and James Beattie (87) both scored from the penalty spot - while Chris Morgan was sent off for a second bookable offence.
