Andy Bell claimed the British super-flyweight title with a unanimous points decision against Chris Edwards at the Barnsley Metrodome.
Edwards, of Stoke, had won the newly-created belt with a split decision victory over Jamie McDonnel in Wigan in December.
But Nottingham-based Bell, 22, who had lost to McDonnel earlier in his career, proved the more composed fighter and had Edwards on the canvas in the third round.
Edwards, 31, tired as the fight progressed and the agile Bell was able to land some good combination punches and opened a cut above the older fighter's left eye.
Bell landed a higher percentage of punches as the fight wore on and although Edwards recovered from the knockdown to go the 12 rounds, Bell was a deserved winner with the judges' scorecards reading 117-111, 115-113 and 117-111 in his favour.
Bell told Sky Sports 1: "It is brilliant to win the belt, I've waited four years for this. It was a tough fight all the way but I knew it would be tough against him."
