Peterborough kept up their superb form with a fine 2-0 win over League One leaders Leicester, while Millwall claimed a late 1-0 win at Crewe.

The home side won their sixth game in succession to move within four points of the Foxes, who have now won only three of their last 11 games.

Midfielder Charlie Lee (pictured) broke the deadlock for the hosts two minutes before the break, beating three men and deftly curling the ball home with his left foot.

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson was sent to the stands on 68 minutes after remonstrating with the fourth official but was soon celebrating again, Chris Whelpdale latching on to Craig Mackail-Smith's through-ball and firing low past Tony Warner with 10 minutes to go.

Third-placed Millwall sustained the pressure on the top two with a last-gasp victory at Crewe.

The Lions had talismanic striker Neil Harris carried off on a stretcher but nicked the win in injury time, substitute Jason Price's strike keeping them five points behind the automatic promotion places with a game in hand.

They are also two points ahead of MK Dons, who continued their dismal run of form with a 2-0 defeat at Leeds.

Jermaine Beckford's brace, his 30th and 31st goals of the season in all competitions, kept Simon Grayson's side in fourth and moved them to within a point of the Dons, who have won only once in their last nine.

Scunthorpe kept up the pressure in sixth with a 3-0 win against Colchester courtesy of Gary Hooper, who netted twice before on-loan Arsenal youngster Henri Lansbury put the gloss on the result.

Tranmere fell further behind the top six after being held to a goalless draw at home to strugglers Brighton and Joe Royle is still searching for his first win since returning to Oldham after the Latics threw away a first-half lead to lose 2-1 at Leyton Orient.

That moved Orient up three places to 15th, three points above the relegation zone, while Carlisle and Northampton are 18th and 20th respectively, either side of Crewe, after playing out a 1-1 draw at Brunton Park.

Yeovil drew level on points with Northampton with their first win under Terry Skiverton, a 1-0 victory over Swindon secured thanks to a clever lob from Jonathan Obika.

Bottom club Cheltenham extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 1-1 draw at Walsall, Frankie Artus scoring his second in two games for the Robins before Michael Townsend's own goal levelled things in the second half.

Elsewhere, Stockport's slump in form continued at Bristol Rovers, Byron Anthony's early strike and Richard Lambert's penalty against his old club condemning them to a fourth defeat in five matches, while Huddersfield compounded Hereford's relegation fears with a 1-0 win at Edgar Street.
