Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander believes he needs "five or six" new additions to his squad if they are to challenge for promotion next term.Alexander secured the Silkmen's Football League status after they beat Chesterfield 1-0 at the weekend.

He is already eyeing up potential new recruits to join the Moss Rose club in the summer.

"Like every squad I believe we need to bring in five or six players," said Alexander.

"You have to ask yourself when you're looking at potential players if they are better than what you've got and if they are then you see what you can do."
