Tue 29 Apr, 08:45 AM

Middlesbrough defender Luke Young is desperate for the club to get the points needed to secure their Premier League safety.Young, who was relegated with Charlton last season, was part of the side beaten 3-2 at Sunderland on Saturday and is keen to get the points needed to stay up from the home games with Portsmouth and Manchester City.

He told the club's official website: "We have to pick ourselves up straight away and be strong as a side and as a squad because there are two massive games coming up.

"We didn't want it to go this far - we wanted to push on and try to win this mini-league at the bottom - but we're not going to do that now. We've got to make sure we keep ourselves in this division."
