Cavendish Wins Time Trial

Britain's Mark Cavendish won the time-trial prologue of the Tour de Romandie on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old track world champion completed the 1.2-mile circuit of Lake Geneva in two minutes 7.60 seconds and finished 0.27 seconds ahead of second-placed Daniele Bennati of Italy.

Bennati's Liquigas team-mate, Switzerland's Michael Albasini, finished third in 2min 8.2secs, with Bjorn Schroder of Team Milram in fourth and Cavendish's Team High Road team-mate Bradley Wiggins a second behind in fifth.

The race lasts six days and stage one on Wednesday is a 115-mile route from Morges to Saignelegier.
