Peter Crouch insists England are starting to see the fruits of Fabio Capello's labour - but claims patience remains key.England dispatched a limited USA side 2-0 on Wednesday night to register Capello's second victory from his three games in charge.
It was a laboured performance and further evidence there has been no revolution so far under the tough-talking former Real Madrid boss.
But Liverpool marksman Crouch believes the Italian's influence is beginning to tell on the pitch.
"It's going to take time. The manager is still trying to find the right formation by changing players and the way we play," he said.
"It's all a case of getting it right for the main objective, which is qualifying for major tournaments.
"He's a top manager. He's getting his point across to the players and that's starting to come across now.
"Of course it will take time but we showed last night that his ideas are starting to take shape.
"He communicates well and we all understand him."
