Argentine striker Emanuel Villa knows it is important Derby begin life back in the Championship on a positive note next season.The Rams suffered an embarrassing campaign in the Premier League, posting a record-low 11 points - and just one win - from 38 games.

With manager Paul Jewell set to make wholesale changes to the squad, Villa does not think 2007/08's nightmare will have a knock-on affect.

Villa, who hit three goals in 16 league games for the Rams, told the Evening Telegraph: "The manager won't let it happen and the players that are here - the ones that are staying and the ones that arrive - will pull together to try and create a team with a winning mentality.

"That's important. Next season, we'll have a completely different team, so we'll have a different mentality to go with with it."
