Southend have begun their rebuilding process by dumping strikers Matt Harrold, Richie Foran and Charlie MacDonald on the transfer list.Harrold managed just six goals in 59 appearances since his £100,000 switch from Yeovil in September 2006 while Foran, a £150,000 capture from Motherwell the following January, found the net just twice in 23 games.

MacDonald, a summer signing from Ebbsfleet, scored six goals last season but hit the target just once in the league.

"I met with all three of the lads and they've found it hard to get into the team during their time with us," said boss Steve Tilson

"I explained it would be hard for them next season and we all agreed it would be best if they went to play their football elsewhere."

Tilson has been linked with a move for Coventry forward Kevin Kyle.
