Jose Maria del Nido claims he knows nothing about Tottenham's apparent willingness to to match Diego Capel's buy-out clause.
A report in Diario de Sevilla claimed Spurs were on the verge of agreeing terms with Capel having met the asking price in his contract.
But del Nido told ABC Sevilla: "After talks with his representatives, I do not have any information about Tottenham being prepared to pay his clause, which is 15.6million euros (£12.3m).
"What I would ask is whether a foreign club could exercise the buy-out clause in Spain?"
Capel's team-mate Daniel Alves' future is still up in the air - he has been linked with Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United - and whether he stays or goes directly affects which players Sevilla will themselves target.
Del Nido added: "We need a right-back, left-back, central defender, central midfielder and a player that can play down either wing.
"If more players leave than that will increase and if Daniel stays then forget about a new right-back."
Fernando Navarro was one player that Sevilla were hoping to buy, but del Nido has revealed that Mallorca's asking price is too high.
"They have put a price on him that does not fit in with our calculations, after all they can ask for what they want, and we will look for another full-back," he explained.
