Real Madrid presidential candidate Florentino Perez claimed "an agreement" is in place for Cristiano Ronaldo to join the club.
Perez is anxious for Madrid to regain the high ground from Barcelona and questioned about Ronaldo, he told Marca: "He's also a player that would be very good if he came to Real Madrid. What I know is what I've read, that there is an agreement by means of which he would come for £80 million."
Asked if he would pay that amount, Perez said: "Next week we will look at the numbers and nobody should doubt that we are going to design with our sporting advisors a spectacular project."
Perez is the overwhelming favourite to return as Real Madrid president and could be installed as early as Monday without the need for elections if no other candidates step forward before the May 31 deadline.
There had originally been three other candidates who had announced they would be mounting bids.
But Eugenio Martinez Bravo, Juan Onieva and Eduardo Garcia have all pulled out of the running in the last fortnight, with the 57.4million euro (£50.3m) bank guarantee seeming to be the big stumbling block.
Kaka is another name on his wish-list and Perez added: "Until the competitions finish we are not going to talk with the clubs.
"But I've always spoken of my great relationship with (Milan vice-president Adriano) Galliani and this relationship maybe makes it easier that Kaka comes to Madrid."

I dunno about you all, but if Manchester get either Ribery, Kaka, keep Tevez or sell him and get Zlatan Ibrahimovoic or getting Huntelaar, or get Eto'o would be fantastic i think and keeping Ronaldo. They can win so many cups with little stars, get more star players and who can beat ManU...
Please please please Perez take ronaldildo away from the EPL let him dive and cheat in spain and hold your club to ransome whenever things don`t go his way, To#! er.
The worst thinking about Barcelona winning the final was knowing how much pleasure the victory would have given the Catalan people! They are by far the most ignorant, insular and arrogant people I have ever met. Unlike the rest of Spain, which is, in general, full of warm, welcoming and mostly open folks. You can keep your "Barcelona es mas que un club" as I shall never return to Catalunya. Puta Barca y puta Catalunya!
swap for robben + money!!!!!
ROBBEN IS A GREAT PLAYER...
fergie should go, his tactics and team selection lost the final. it's about time we got someone new in and had a change, he's got a great record at utd but he's made a few very suspect decisions in recent times. so nows the time to look to mourinho before he gets cold feet
Get rid of him for as much money possible.
If Madrid want the showboater let them have him but it will cost!!!!!!
Get Ribery and we already have a young lad from Brazil for the left wing bye giggs your too old now too and scholes enjoy your last year wherever it may be!!!
But most of all keep Tevez at all costs.
HERE WE GO AGAIN !!!!!!!! Do Utds fans realy care what Real Madrid want ???? It just looks good in Spanish papers.
I can understand Ronaldo's frustration.
Ferguson's Barca tactics were @#$%.
United only won the League because Liverpool goofed.
Face reality it is Furgeson that should be thinking of going.
Why should we be held to ramson every transfer window let him go , Ronaldo Thank you good lucky with madrid bye
ronaldo is the best! he has to stay in utd. cause he looks good there!!!
To be honest Ronaldo is not worth the attention (which he craves). His comments after the final were directed at Man Utd defence, however he neglected to highlight his numerous chances to score, which he missed. His behaviour during the game towards his team mates was childish, and he was more interested in looking into the cameras during the game than keeping his eye on the ball. Barca were excellent, skillfull and professional throughout the competition and football won in Rome. Congratulations to Pep and the team, it was one of the best Barca's performance I have watched in years..
ronaldo is the best
i think utd must keep ronaldo coz they gonna still be loserssssssssssssssss.......
bryjones71. As a Barca fan, I didnt expect Barca to win the 2nd game against Chelsea. We were lucky. But there wasnt any conspiracy or bribery. The ref sent off Abidal for nothing with 25 mins left on the clock. Chelsea should had finish, but instead, they pulled on a defender and brought in a striker. The top 4 clubs in England is better than the top 4 clubs anywhere else. But if you look at the UEFA Cup, England clubs are only so-so. Also, MU is £700mil in debt. As of Jan, Liverpool owes £350.5 to the Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia. Abramovich lost and estimate of £3 billion from his £11.7 net worth during the financial crisis last year.
I see Ronaldo as trophy hunter. Why shouldnt he, all employees want to work for a good employer. Didnt Ronaldo copyrighted "CR9" in Spain (#7 is currently occupied by Raul). Ronaldo's father once said that they had learned from last summer, so all negotiation will be behind closed door this time. So that means there IS negotiation. A month or so ago, Perez said he was seeking to cancel the agreement with Ronaldo. He said that it's not wise to spend that much money on 1 player. It's better to spend smaller amount on a group of good players.
Barca should never of beat Chelsea and ManU had a too easy root into the final! If I didn't know better I would say it was a fix?
No doubt Barca deseved to win there game with manU But whats the betting a English team will be in the final next season! A all Enlish final? Looks to me like English teams will be dominating EU football from now! The English football league is by far the best in the world! If Ronald leaves? then it's his loss
oye black d - no puedes confiar en traductores online, gilipollas - learn english
with franco you ALWAYS got the players you wanted and yes he probably did help you in the European competion. That must have helped you to your 9 titles your sooo proud off, United would have won more but for them losing there team to the plane crash, it took years for them to rebuild that team. Anyway, last 5 years there's only one winner thats the Premier League, how many years running has there been a English team in final?
I'm off now black d, works finished and I've better things to do, you keep living in the past spanish is the best bla bla bla
see the table 2 for you 2 for us
see alwalys we are the winner
