Northampton have confirmed the signing of defender Craig Hinton on an initial one-year deal following his release from Bristol Rovers.

The 31-year-old will officially become a Cobblers player on July 1 after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

The versatile former Kidderminster man will be a welcome addition to Stuart Gray's squad and is capable of playing anywhere along the back four.

Hinton made 187 appearances in five years with Rovers, however he was deemed surplus to requirements at the Memorial Stadium and was not offered a new deal.
