Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has hailed "fantastic" Heurelho Gomes for the goalkeeper's recovery in form.
The Brazilian goalkeeper made a series of mistakes in the first few months of the campaign and was widely expected to be replaced, with Carlo Cudicini arriving from Chelsea.
However, the 28-year-old produced a string of consistent displays as Spurs moved up the table.
"Gomes has been fantastic considering the start he had and the bad time he went through," Redknapp told Hotspur magazine.
"He has shown great character to come back from where he was."

comment 8, I agree with you. It's got a bit boring every week seeing wins for Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. There's no variety at all, I just wish someone could break the monotony.
I,m starting to find our league very competatively depressing , Just like the write erskine here , we most of us just completely disregard 1st 2nd 3rd and fourth place in our league , That cannot be right , for over a century we provided the most varied league where the success could in no way be predicted from one season to the next ? What really gets me is the fact that so many people even supporters of non top 4 , seem to be proud that we have a no entry sign up into the top 4 ! what is it you all seem to revere about boring predictable weekends of football !!! On anothe subject , just want to mention what an anti climax the relegation issue was this year . I would like to say battle , but it was far from that . once again our predictable league won , and the strugglers went down with a whimper and not a point between them in the last matches SAD
Fair play to Gomes; he have improved in the latter half of the season, especially under Redknapp's management. I have to confess, I was one of those who wanted Gomes replaced but he's in consistent form and thus deserves another season to show what he can do. A good goalkeeper is only as good as the back four, and the back four are only as good as the midfield and so forth. A confident goalie with a solid defence allows the team to concentrate on creating more chances in the oppostion half.
Erskine Sam - I hope you're right. Probably better for all Spurs fans to keep quite this year following last seasons dismal start.
"WE" finished 8th get it right. "COYS" YID 4 LIFE
He's quality but it took him time to get over Ramos mismanagement.Cudicini is also good as he proved at Chelsea when Cech was taken out at the Reading game and he had to step in.Gomes has saved a few shots but if your taken in by his antics earlier this season then your stupid.
with garden gomes under redknapp they finished 10th i tink he took over and they where last so shut up Colin H there going to be a serious team next year they will be as good as villa and everton
What with garden gomes, har har har har har har har
Expect us next season challenging for 5th place...
