Bidding for Swans' Bodde hots up

Sun 29 Jun, 01:15 PM

Derby manager Paul Jewell has confirmed Middlesbrough have joined the race to sign £3million-rated Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde.Negotiations between Derby and Swansea have stalled over the Swans' price-tag for the Dutchman after the Rams' latest bid of £2million was rejected.

Newly-promoted West Brom were also linked with a move for the highly-rated 26-year-old, who is understood to want to leave the Liberty Stadium in time for the new campaign.

Jewell told the Swansea Evening Post: "I would imagine there are a few clubs in for Ferrie because he's a good player.

"I know Middlesbrough were interested, so we're up against some decent competition.

"If West Brom are in for him, we've got to try to get over that hurdle. We'd just like the opportunity to speak to the player."

  1. Given the way that Swansea have treated Bodde over the past few weeks there is no way he will want to play for them next season.
