Preston manager Alan Irvine has poured cold water on reports that he has any interest in Blackpool pair Wes Hoolahan and Kaspars Gorkss.Irishman Hoolahan signed a three-year deal at Norwich last week and Latvian international Gorkss is expected to follow his team-mate out of Bloomfield Road, with a number of clubs already chasing the defender's signature.
Irvine told the Lancashire Evening Post: "I think Hoolahan is a good footballer, but I wasn't quite sure where he would fit in our team to be honest and we never made an enquiry about him.
"As for Gorkss, I'm aware of him but, again, we haven't made any contact with Blackpool to try and sign him.
"I don't know where these stories linking us with both of them have originated from, but they aren't true."

Very unfortunate that Blackpool FC once again seem to have a very mercenary boardroom.
Selling off players of the quality of WES HOOLAHAN and KASPAR GORKSS particularly at the kind of fee that has been rumoured 250,000 each...how much will it cost to replace them ???...smacks of the days of Cartmell and Co. who headed up the club when then sold off anything and everything that would turn a profit....ALAN BALL GORDON WEST TOMMY HUTCHINSON EMLYN HUGHES... from being a long standing old First Division club they slid all the way into the old fourth division and at one point were extremely lucky to avoid the re-election to the League process.
Wheres all the dosh promised by this Latvian bloke BELAKON ??? Whats it to be.... splash some cash and consolidate in The Championship or a quick profit wherever it can be turned and a rapid slide back into Division 2 mediocrity ? The increase in ticket prices at Bloomfield Rd is a scandal but of course it will be justified no doubt by saying the money is to be used to strengthen the side lol. Im sorry but I think that we are going straight back down this season and itll be the board BELAKON AND OYSTON to blame. I feel sorry for Simon Grayson a young guy who has done an outstanding job for the club and the fans on a shoestring budget dictated by the tightwads who run the show at Bloomfield Rd. Good luck for the new season Simon !
