Gareth Barry remains desperate to join Liverpool and has blasted Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill for making no effort to persuade him to stay.
The England midfielder has made no secret of his desire for the regular Champions League football on offer at Anfield.
But despite his pleas to the Villa hierarchy to allow him to leave, the midlanders have remained entrenched and rejected a reported £15million bid from the Reds earlier this month.
Barry told the News of the World: "My mind's made up, I want to join Liverpool.
"There's no going back, it's time for me to move on. I'm desperate to play Champions League football and that's why I have to leave Villa."
O'Neill has been openly critical of Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez over his pursuit of the Villa skipper.
But despite O'Neill's public posturing, a scornful Barry insists nothing has been done to get him to remain at Villa Park.
"Villa kept saying they wanted me to stay but I have not heard from the manager for weeks," he claimed.
"It's seven weeks now since the season finished but while the gaffer's found time to be a pundit for the BBC at Euro 2008, he hasn't found the time to speak to me.
"Have Villa offered me anything to try to persuade me my future is at Villa Park, not Anfield? Not a thing."

surely there are much better players out there. Im a dundee f.c. and a liverpool supporter and i'll tell you all this. The big clubs have missed out on two great centre midfielders that they could have bought for sweeties by comaprison and turned into the players they need. Kevin McDonald has I feel made the wrong decision by going to a small club,as is Rafa by trying to get a flavour of the month player in Barry, But that's what happens in football. No loyalty not just from players, but from managers also. Why has Rafa let players like Alonso and Garcia to name a couple just go, especially when he keeps on using them as bit part players. I know no-one is guaranteed a game anywhere, but you have to agree, they were outstanding for the Reds. Best of luck for the future Alonso. Well done Spain!!!!!
Just like to ask how come Man United can go ahead with the tour to here(South Africa)

i never thought i would applaud villa, but as a reds supporter i've never been happier to see such a ridiculous player valuation. he's a nice player, but even 12 millions pounds is way too much (15 is beyond obscene) for a 27 year old midfielder with almost no important national caps in his career. i know alonso has fallen from favor, but barry is not really an improvement. we need help in attack so gerrard can move back to the middle of the pitch, where he can influence the game more ~ not someone who will help facilitate rafa's affection for putting #8 out wide. i know he's effective out there, but where isn't he effective? we used to be able to own the midfield against the big clubs, and while that didn't always translate to goals, at least we didn't have to watch arsenal, chelsea and united rip up the center on us (zero wins against the big three this season). it seems like as soon as we found a real striker, we forgot we have one of the only central midfielders who can control a game. ugh, now we'll have barry pulling the strings? double ugh.
please let martin o' neill make an example of barry and let him rot on the reserves if he doesn't want to play at the park, and let's spend that money on the two davids (silva or bentley), so the CM we already have can go back to where he best fits.
I suppose the fact that he was in effect a 'nobody' until Martin O'Neill took hold of the reins has not crossed Barry's mind yet. Barry will that find competition at Champions Leeague level is a bit stiffer than when playing for a depleted Aston Villa squad - bet he spends more time on the bench than on the field once Benitez gets hold of him!
