The 34-year-old, who was a member of the victorious Greece Euro 2004 squad, has parted company with the Athens club by mutual consent, ending a career-long affair with the Greens.

"Panathinaikos and Yannis Goumas have decided to resolve the player's contract mutually," the club said.

"We him every success in the next stage of his career, while also leaving the door open for him to return when he ends his playing career."

Goumas, among a host of Greek internationals to emerge from the club's famed youth academy, made his debut in 1994 and went on to make 227 appearances, scoring 27 goals.

Goumas, who is still active for Greece, has 45 caps and was a member of Otto Rehhagel's triumphant Euro 2004 squad.
