European Championship U21 - Hart appeal fails, suspension stands

UEFA have rejected England U21 goalkeeper Joe Hart's appeal to have his yellow card from the European Championship semi-final overturned.

FOOTBALL England U21 goalkeeper Joe Hart, who will miss the European Championship final against Germany after an appeal against a yellow card that earned him a suspension is rejected by UEFA - 0

Hart, who was booked at the end of the semi-final against Sweden for ungentlemanly conduct during the penalty shoot-out, will miss Monday's final in Malmo when Stuart Pearce's youngsters face Germany.

Pearce will choose between Scott Loach and Joe Lewis to deputise for Hart, who recently joined Birmingham on loan from Manchester City.

Loach started against Germany in the group stage when Pearce rested his first-choice players.

  7. Saddened for the lad, he certainly would have deserved­ to play. But he's earned my respect for the way­ he's conducted himself with dignity. If there is an­ award for 'Goalkeeper of the tournament' I hope­ he's still in contention for it.
