Eurosport - Mon, 29 Jun 14:12:00 2009

Leeds are closing in on their second summer signing after being given permission to talks with Cardiff striker Warren Feeney.

FOOTBALL Warren Feeney of Northern Ireland and Cardiff, in talks to sign for Leeds United - 0

Northern Ireland international Feeney, who started out as a trainee at Elland Road in 1998, still has a year to run on his current contract with Cardiff.

The 28-year-old told the Belfast Telegraph: "I'm just going for talks and there is still plenty of things to discuss. A medical hasn't even been suggested.

"Cardiff have given permission for another club to sign me so we'll see what happens.

"Leeds are still a massive club and I'm excited."

Feeney left Elland Road in 2001 without making a first-team appearance and went on to Bournemouth, Stockport and then Luton before arriving at Cardiff in June 2007. He has since had loan spells at Swansea and Dundee United.

  2. I am proud fella, very very proud. But... there's nothing more patriotic than criticizing the people in charge of the team or country you love! just blindly following your team when things at the top aren't right is just plain foolish, you'll end up with a dictatorship... or ken bates, then it'll be too late. :D
I just wish he'd come out and say what the 4m profit Leeds have made over the last year (4m from the pocket of hard working leeds fans i might add) is being or has been spent on. That's all i ask and it's what the fans deserve. I say we all the fans get together and buy the club and run it like Real Madrid, maybe then as shareholders we'll get to know where the money goes. We adopted Real Madrid's colours, now it's time to adopt their attitude towards football, it's about the fans, not the directors, chairmen and sponsors. It's a fan who's president of real now and look what he's doing, it's not about profit making to him, it's about his club being a success. Things at leeds are totally upside down.

  5. I hear, for you golden oldies like me, that Special A.K.A are re-writing their eighties hit- Now going to sing:
"Free-ee-players, bate's wants yer" Sing it out to the original boys and you'll know what i'm saying. What's the news on "can't get first team football" at the mighty (joke!) cardiff Feeney? David Healy etc.
As usual, Marc, good comments! I do think attendance will drop, myself included, if suitable additions to the squad, by the board proving their desire to be promoted, are not made in the summer. I'm hoping, like yourself, to be bowled over by Ken's outlandishness in the transfer market.
F*c* it, i'm off for a pint. Too warm to sit here!

  6. The only reason we pay such high shirt and ticket prices is because we expect it to be put back into the club. As soon as it comes to light that we're just filling ken's wallet the fans are gonna leave in their droves.

  7. We are doomed. Not a chance of going up this year, mark my words. I can't believe how arrogant Bates is, just because we are leeds he expects us to just get promoted. Graysons good but he aint a miracle worker. The squad is gonna be weaker than last year and the this division is about to get a hell of a lot stronger with Southampton, Charlton and Norwich coming down. We've not got a hope in hell. Very very depressed life-long Leeds fan. :(
A quick message to Mr Bates, I'm not gonna be foolish enough to get my hopes up this year when the chances of promotion are zero, i have finally woken up and I suggest other leeds fans should too. Just watch the crowds shrink this year, unless we see some serious investment in new players i predict we'll only get 10k a game this season. And where will ya be then batesy?
I'm off to betfair to bet £200 against promotion to soften the blow.

  8. Michael Owen has been diagnosed with gender identity disorder and will soon be having a sex change. He is, however, looking at things from a positive stance and having trials with the England women's national team, so desperate is he to wear the Three Lions skirt again. Apparently Fabio Capello is not an advocate of playing top town tarts in the men's team. Reuters News Agency. Bootle

  9. I'm with you Marc. This is not an ongoing attack at Ken & crew! I, and most others, understand and appreciate that they got us out of the financial sh-t we were in. BUT that was a few years ago-the top money earners have been sold, (for a pittance), and we are, thanks to the loyal fans still going to watch a mainly league 1 quality side, making a profit. Let's see that profit invested for the fans, improve the squad to take us forward. It's okay Ken talking the talk how we need to get back where we belong in the premiership-won't happen by taking players on free, (who can't get first team football at their current club-normally a reason for this-their being sh-t!), or has been's looking to boost their pension fund for a year. Forget the hotel / casino / whatever, you're not in Monaco now-Get some talent for the pitch!

  10. if we get promoted i'll happily shut up. Not gonna happen with this current squad though i'm afraid. We're being blinded by our own arrogance if we think we can get promotion with this team. Grayson is a v good manager and a top top bloke and everyone goes on about how we'd have got promoted if he'd have been in charge from the start. NOT TRUE! peterborough and the MK dons had better records than us from the time Grayson took over - we'd have still been in the play-offs. Time to wake up!

  11. Why dont you give the Leeds management team a chance it was only 2 to 3 seasons ago leeds were close to going out of business so called leeds fans need to get behind Mr Grayson not ridicule all te time so come on leeds get us that promotion then maybe some people will shut up
