December 15, 2008 - Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear says he will offer Owen a new deal: "I will fight like hell to keep him. I don't see any point taking money for Michael Owen. I would rather have him in my team scoring goals than any amount of cash."

  8. Newcastle stuck by Owen all the time he was injured. Sent him to specialists and America to get him back playing. But he never was the Owen we all new at Liverpool/England.
Now he`s injury prone, so who will buy him?

  9. Michael is actually still a Newcastle player up to the 30th of June, so all through June, while this waster is producing brochues, and earning a 100k a week, which is more than some acdamey kid will earn in two seasons.....

  10. I agree with you Cameron. What is the point of this Eurosport/Yahoo? Is it a slow news day? Can I expect a timeline on every other player/transfer/manager move currently doing the rounds? Get a grip for God's sake.

  13. How could anyone manage to write 34 pages on what Owen has archieved? He has been the most overpaid and under performing player over the last four years. As soon as 'his' team were relegated he wanted out, yet he must share the blame.

  18. I think he has had enough "changes". Realistically he is like every other striker, his scoring rateis what counts. If thats good enough, and he is good enough, which I now doubt, then he is worth what is a reasonable salary in line with the current obscene wages footballers receive. These vast amounts of money mean that todays footballers are mercenaries first and loyal team members second. This in reply to David W 8th June. From Gordon Watt.

  20. How quick the rats are to jump off the wreckage of what they (and they alone) have created. We stood by Owen through thin and thinner, and paid his obscene wages while he signed on the sick week after week. Now he expects to stroll into a premier league club. Unbelievable. And if the rumours have any foundation, the so-called "stars" are all scrabbling to find EPL clubs. Martins, Gutierrez, the pitiful Coloccini, Nolan and many more. Pathetic. We're certainly no worse off without their arrogant indifference. If they'd been as proud to wear the shirt as the likes of Taylor, Harper and Carroll, then we may have stood a chance. Howay the Toon. And good luck to the mackems. I think they'll need it next time round cos we won't be there to save their bacon by being worse than they are.
