Red Bull X-Fighters to go Big at Battersea

Mon, 29 Jun 15:54:00 2009

The Red Bull X-Fighters, the pinnacle of freeride motocross, will be landing in London at Battersea Power Station on 22 August. Since its inception in 2007, the World Tour has witnessed some of the most death defying stunts on the planet, remaining one of the most extreme of all extreme sports.

This weekends round at Fort Worth, Texas provided a taste of things to come, with Thomas Pages of France kicking the contest off with one of the craziest moves ever to be seen in freeride motocross, attempting the first frontflip to take place under competitive conditions. Pages failed to nail the trick, and left the arena for medical treatment.

This set the scene for Cameron Sinclair to successfully perform the first ever double backflip in competition. Following his daring feat, the 24-year-old Aussie said, There has never been a double backflip in competition before. I dont really care about the fact I was eliminated in the semis Im just happy Im more or less healthy! The competition was eventually won by USAs Nate Adams who defeated Mat Rebaud of Switzerland in the final.

With such mind-blowing tricks being attempted at this latter stage in the season, the grand final in London promises to take things to another level.
