Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins has confirmed his interest in Crewe midfielder Michael O'Connor.
The highly-rated 21-year-old has endured a rocky time at Gresty Road since Gudjon Thordarson took over at the club, being sent out on loan to Lincoln and also training with Scottish side Hibernian.
And although the situation has now been resolved, the Northern Ireland international could be on the move again if Alex come to an agreement with the Championship newcomers.
"I have asked the chairman to make an inquiry about Michael," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "But that is as far as it has gone at the moment."
Adkins is keen to strengthen his midfield ahead of the new season and is still hopeful of signing Ipswich's Liam Trotter who spent time on loan with the Iron last season.
