Notts County manager Ian McParland is chasing other targets after missing out on striker Billy Clarke.

The Scot publicly admitted he was trying to bring the former Ipswich striker to Meadow Lane, but the 21-year-old opted to sign for Blackpool at the end of last week.

McParland told the club's website: "We tried our hardest to convince him to come here, but Championship football is hard to turn down.

"Behind-the-scenes we are working very hard to bring someone in capable of scoring 20 or more goals for us.

"It is a case of moving on and working our way down the list."
