Furman leaves Rangers

Mon 29 Jun, 10:06 PM

South African youngster Dean Furman has left Rangers for Oldham.

The 21-year-old midfielder has signed a two-year deal with the Latics, after making just one first-team appearance as a substitute in three years at Ibrox.

Furman had been offered an extended stay with the Clydesdale Bank Premier League champions after impressing during a 33-match loan spell with Bradford last season.

He told his club's official website, www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk: "I was offered a new contract by Rangers but I didn't think I was going to get as much football as I'd have liked.

"The chance to join Oldham came up and straight away I got a good feel for the club. I had my first day training with them today (Monday) and it was great.

"I feel it's time for me to move on because I enjoyed getting first-team football at Bradford last season and I was to keep progressing.

"I am confident I will be able to do that now. I've got no guarantees I'll be playing every week and it's up to me to prove I'm good enough for this team.

"That's a challenge I'm looking forward to and hopefully over the next couple of years I can give my all and establish myself more."

  18. Metz....Regardless of what is thought of the guys u have mentioned....time will tell....Fletcher and Fortune have not refused as yet and at least we are in the market for players...Naka was always going and we have a replacement there with Mizuno...JVOH...I think you will find that most Celtic fans will let him go....My point is, again...nothing from IPOX till the season tickets were sold and then players off, injuries, African cup, no money from sales (although 5 million for Davis will do)no money for to buy players, the bank want at least 6 million by Sept 09 and you are asking me why I wud rather be in Celtics position than Rangers!!!!
