Hibernian manager John Hughes has confirmed Burnley are interested in signing Steven Fletcher.
Reports claim Clarets manager Owen Coyle is set to make a bid for the highly-rated striker which would be worth £3.5million.
"Owen called to give me the heads up that there's an interest there," said Hughes.
"He asked me about Fletch and I told him he can compete, he's good in the air, quick and when he gets the ball on that left foot he always hits the target.
"Having been travelling I need to get up to date not only with what's happening regarding Fletch but a number of things so I'll be meeting the chairman and chief executive to discuss a range of matters."
Fletcher, 22, has already expressed an interest in joining forces with former boss Tony Mowbray at Celtic.
And, as interest in the Scotland striker continues to grow, he looks increasingly likely to be heading for the exit door this summer.
However, Hughes - who replaced Mixu Paatelainen at the helm earlier this month - hopes Fletcher will still be a Hibs player next season.
He told www.scotsman.com: "I am a great admirer of Fletch and I'd love to have the opportunity to work with him.
"I am a manager and a coach and I work with the players at my disposal. But I also understand football is a business and Hibs run a very good business."

hibs its time to let fletch go he is the most over rated player in the spl but dont let him go on the cheap tell them hes theres for 4m then let yogi spend 3 now pt13 you are such a @#$% apart from the fact you cant spell or talk yogi is the most hard working ant top manager he will not run hims down but he will make us a great club again its great that you type o scum are running us into the groung because when we are on top again we can laugh loudly just look at his first signing the man is about to become a legend so you go back to your dog of a wife and your b****** children that you fiddle with and die
FLECHERS AN ERSE FRAE THE WINDY CITY KEEP HIM FED UP WAE AWE YOU BAA BAGS TURNIN UP AND DAEING FECK ALL HIBBS ARE KECH JIST WAIT TAE BIG YOGI RUNS YAE INTAE THE GRUBBER
Let him go South for three reasons:
A) He won't score against us (Hibs)
B) He'll become a better player for Scotland
C) Players who move to the Old Firm usually get worse or get left in limbo (Robson, Riordan, Caldwell, Jankauskas, Hartley, Killen to name a few recent ones)
Oh and Rangers, please don't re-sign Christian Dailly... he's finished, he never started to be honest... let him retire... make him retire.
I see that raising hot shot from the Academy has signed for Oldham......
Windae Licker...who r the 2 players we have lost out on and I think u will find that no deals can be annouced until July 1st unless you are on loan
I think the board should just come clean and say we have this to spend or we dont have this to spend.
Who if any are celtic going to sign. They have lost out on 2 guys or more in the space of a week. We all know they would get them its just the board up to there old "we tried" tricks again. Bet they re sign hartson
Dunno...no heard @#$% all about all summer...I heard that the DVD is @#$% too and Micheal Jackson is out selling it
I suppose u would only cry if u could not laugh Metz
Lets all laugh at celtic, lets all laugh at celtic,ha,ha,ha,ha!!!!!!
celtic should pay whatever price it takes for fletcher, hes 22 and is already recieving offers from teams in one of the best leagues in the world, if you put him in a team of better players then he wil get beter, get a £4m offer in for him ASAP
d.bawbag...this boy is only 22 plenty of time to go south...better off a Celtic with a management team he knows.....the price will be the same for both teams so Hibs will not lose out and Im sure there is a boy just waiting to step into his shoes from the Academy
if he,s going to go lets hope he shows ambition and goes to the premiership and not that bunch of no hopers in weegieland!!!
Good move by Hibs to put the price up......
