Northampton have withdrawn the offer of a new contract to defender Mark Hughes.
Hughes had refused to sign his new deal and Cobblers manager Stuart Gray ran out of patience.
Gray said: "We kept Mark's offer open for a while after the June 16 deadline, which we were not obliged to do. We did not hear back and we could not wait indefinitely for a decision and so we have moved on. Mark does not now have a contract offer on the table from ourselves."
Elsewhere, the club have also offered former loan defender Paul Rodgers the chance to spend pre-season at Sixfields in an attempt to prove his worth and earn a contract.
