No hurry over new Hearts captain

Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo insists he is in no hurry to name a new captain ahead of the forthcoming season.

Robbie Neilson inherited the armband from Christophe Berra but his decision to quit for Leicester means the Jambos boss is again seeking a skipper.

"There will be somebody new who wears the armband next season, that is certain," Laszlo said.

He has a few candidates in mind but says he will take time to consider his options during a pre-season trip to Germany.

The Edinburgh side head to their base in Lower Saxony next Monday for six days, where they will face Goslar SC 08, St Pauli, Slask Wroclaw and Alemannia Aachen.

Laszlo added: "I have a couple of candidates in mind but there is no hurry to name a captain just now.

"We have games coming up in Germany and it is important to look at the attitude and mentality of the players during those matches.

"After that at some point a decision can be made.

"The role of the captain is an important one at any football club and I will think carefully before making any decision."

  1. Fletchers class!!!!!!?? Your having a laugh right??? An­ above average SPL player that scrapped double figure­ goals in the SPL. He's hardly set the heather alite­ up here last season, god knows how he'll fair in­ the EPL!?

  2. pt5 £2m is a fare price he isnt in fletchers class and ­ you may wat to hold out for £4m but no one will pay­ that which is a shme because like fletch he may want to­ pay at a higher level

  3. Paul, so why is £2million a fair price for Andy Driver?­ Why shouldn't Hearts hold out for more since Hibs­ took £3.8million for a player with a couple of caps for­ Scotland????

  4. pt3 but hibs are going to get £3.8m for fletch yes hes­ overrated but we will gladdly take that money,driver­ will go but if someone offers £2m hearts should take it­ thats a fair price for a fair player

  7. is there any team left at hearts to make captain maybe­ they should make there £4m player driver there captain­ because at that price he will have to stay there cause­ no one will pay that amount for a no bad player hearts­ are having a laugh to think hes worth that after a cap­ for the under 21s .driver hearts have prived you out­ the market for a move to a top club
