Peter Ridsdale has confirmed Cardiff have had an offer accepted for an unnamed centre-back.

The Bluebirds have upped their search for a new defensive lynchpin after losing Roger Johnson and Darren Purse to Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

Ridsdale also pointed to the club's interest in Motherwell defender Paul Quinn, with some sources claiming the Scottish Premier League club have already accepted a £300,000 bid for the right-back.

"Our priority right now is a centre-half and we have had an offer accepted," the Cardiff chairman told the South Wales Echo. "We will be talking to the player today (Monday). There has been discussion about Paul Quinn, but our first job is to bring in a central defender."

Meanwhile, Cardiff striker Warren Feeney, who spent last season on loan at Dundee United, insists his proposed return to Leeds, where he started out as a trainee back in 1998, is not yet a done deal.

He told the Belfast Telegraph: "I'm just going for talks and there is still plenty of things to discuss. A medical hasn't even been suggested. Cardiff have given permission for another club to sign me so we'll see what happens. Leeds are still a massive club and I'm excited."
