Slade prefers home comforts

Mon 29 Jun, 11:31 AM

Brighton manager Russell Slade has praised the benefits of home comforts as his side prepares for the upcoming season in Sussex.

The players must report back for pre-season training on Tuesday and although they have a couple of friendlies planned at Torquay and Scunthorpe, the Seagulls' preparations will be finely-tuned at home, with no training camps planned further afield.

Slade told the Argus: "That might not be a bad thing with new players coming in and trying to build a squad.

"Although the trips away can be bonding, sometimes you need to build a squad. I don't think you can sometimes build that in Ibiza or Portugal. Perhaps we can build it in Sussex."
