Newcastle's crop of emerging youngsters could help the club fight its way back from the pain of relegation, according to Academy director Richard Money.
Newcastle currently have no manager and are facing the prospect of having to offload many of their highest earners even after the departures of the likes of Michael Owen, Mark Viduka and Claudio Cacapa when their contracts expire at midnight on Tuesday.
But with Nile Ranger, Shane Ferguson and Brad Inman, Tamas Kadar and Kazenga LuaLua waiting in the wings, Money believes there is cause for optimism even if prospective new owners cannot provide significant finance for team rebuilding.
He told the Journal: "It is obviously difficult at this time because there is no manager and no owners at the club, and it depends on what the investment policy is.
"But the thing that we have got at this club is some very good talent aged between 17 and 19 and given the chance, I believe they will prove they are good enough.
"The likes of Ranger, Ferguson, Brad Inman - they are playing international football which suggests that they will be able to push on very quickly next season, and it obviously helps those players that we are in the Championship next season."

(comment3) yes he was he offered owen one.
Perhaps Owen, Viduka, and some of the other lamers need to wake up. It is not as if football clubs, even of poor quality, are queuing up to sign them. Sooner we get rid of the dead wood the better.
As regards the young talent I am sure that there are some future stars. However, the messages look like they are more placed to appease fans than anything else. We have had too many stories fobbing us off and need real words. False hope never delivers and the only real real news that we need is to hear that Ashley has sold up to a sensible bunch who know how to build a battered club into success.
I totally agree, give them a chance; what have we got to lose!
I wouldn't trust this current batch of overpaid slackers to save us from further doom . . . . no way man!
Put them in the reserves where they can stew, and unleash the fearless young blood on an unsuspecting Championship!
If they played Harper, Beye, Taylor and Bassong with the kids, I think they would beat a side made up of whats left
Anything will be better than the crop we`ve got now.
Did I say crop? I meant to say...............................
To quote the (average) TV pundit Mr Alan Hansen, " you'll never win anything with kids". for those of you too young to know he said it late 80s/early 90s not sure exactly and he was talking about a certain manager we all love to hate/love namely one Alex Ferguson. the rest as they say Ladies and Gentleman is history. Right manager it might just work
What have we got to loose? Lets give these kids a go. Bring in a couple of experianced championship player in to help them and get shot of the @#$% that got us into this league.
Teenage Kicks, now that's what you call a good song. John Peel's (RIP) all time fave.
precious!!!
Joe Kinnear gave him a three year contract and when he realised what he had done, he had a heart attack
On the subject of Ameobi I wonder if the person who offered him pro papers was ever drug tested?
As the price of even an average player is now excessive, this is going to be the way forward for many clubs. Newcastle have a a great set of youngsters who would be unlikely to get a chance in the Premiership but this may be their season to shine.
From what I have heard of Nile Ranger, he's better than Owen, Viduka, Xisco, Smith and Ameobi put together and I dont believe we would have done any worse if he had started the Villa game.
