Full rider statistics for the Italian MotoGP at Mugello, where Valentino Rossi has an amazing winning record.

1. Jorge Lorenzo

- Has had a single victory at Mugello; the 250cc race in 2006 from pole position.

- In 2008 he crashed out of the MotoGP race at Mugello on lap seven while battling with Dovizioso for 5th place.

- In 2009 he qualified on pole, but crashed on the sighting lap and used his spare bike for the race; after ending the first lap in 6th he charged back through the field to finish 2nd.

- Last year at Mugello he was fastest in free practice, qualified in second and finished the race second without ever challenging for the lead.

4. Andrea Dovizioso

- Before last year had only one podium finish at Mugello - third in the 250cc race in 2006

- He finished 8th in 2008 on his first appearance at Mugello on a MotoGP machine, after qualifying down in 13th place on the grid

- In 2009 he finished 4th after having led both the wet and dry parts of the race at some stage

- After qualifying down in 8th place on the grid, he finished 3rd last year at Mugello – his first MotoGP podium at Mugello

5. Colin Edwards

- Edwards’ 5th place finish in 2008 is his best result from eight MotoGP starts at Mugello

- In 2009 he dropped through the field during the wet part of the race and was running in 15th place after ten laps, before recovering to finish 6th

- Qualified 5th at Mugello last year but finished the race down in 13th after suffering from “arm-pump” for the first time in his career

7. Hiroshi Aoyama

- His best finish at Mugello is 6th in the 250cc race in 2009

- Last year he finished 11th in the MotoGP race at Mugello from 10th place on the grid, which equalled his best qualifying result of 2010

8. Hector Barbera

- Had two podium finishes at Mugello when competing in the smaller classes; 3rd in the 125cc race in 2004 and 3rd in the 250cc class in 2007

- Last year he was 12th in the MotoGP race at Mugello after running off the track early in the race and dropping to the back of the field

11. Ben Spies

- Last year, his first visit to the Mugello circuit, he qualified in 7th and finished 7th as the first rookie across the line

- Following his win at the Dutch TT, if Spies wins at Mugello he would become the first American rider to win back-to-back MotoGP races since Kenny Roberts in 1999

14. Randy de Puniet

- His best result at Mugello is 4th in the 250cc race in 2004

- He was on pole for the 250cc race at Mugello in 2003 but crashed while battling for the lead; he re-started and then crashed again while fighting for a podium finish

- He finished sixth last year at Mugello after being passed by both Melandri and Stoner in the closing stages of the race

17. Karel Abraham

- Abraham’s best result at Mugello is 7th in the 250cc race in 2008

- Has been the highest placed Ducati rider in qualifying at the last two races

- Finished 17th in the Moto2 race last year at Mugello

19. Alvaro Bautista

- Bautista’s victory in 2007 at Mugello was the first time he had stood on the top step of the podium in the 250cc class

- Finished 14th last year at Mugello when still struggling with injuries from a training incident and a crash in practice at Le Mans that had caused him to miss the French GP

24. Toni Elias

- Mugello is one of just five current circuits where Elias has not had a podium finish in any class of GP racing; the others are Losail, Silverstone, Laguna Seca and Aragon

- Finished fifth in the Moto2 race last year at Mugello

26. Dani Pedrosa

- In 2006, his first year in the MotoGP class, Pedrosa finished 4th at Mugello, but just 2 seconds behind winner Rossi

- He finished 2nd at Mugello in 2007 after leading for a couple of laps and setting the fastest lap of the race having qualified in 8th place on the grid.

- In 2008 he was the first Michelin rider across the line, in 3rd place and in 2009 he qualified in 8th place on the grid and fell on lap thirteen while running with the midfield pack

- He dominated last year at Mugello; qualifying on pole, leading the race on every lap and setting a new lap record

- Pedrosa also won in the 250cc GP race at Mugello in 2005.

27. Casey Stoner

- He crashed out of the MotoGP race at Mugello in 2006 on lap nine after making his way up to 3rd from 9th on the grid

- In 2007 he was 4th at Mugello after qualifying on pole for the first time on the Ducati and in 2008 he set a new lap record on his way to finishing 2nd

- His first victory at Mugello came in 2009 and this was also Ducati’s first victory at their home Grand Prix

- Last year he passed De Puniet and Melandri on the last lap to finish 4th

35. Cal Crutchlow

- Will be racing at the Mugello circuit for the first time

46. Valentino Rossi

- Won for seven successive years at Mugello from 2002 to 2008, a seven-year winning streak at his home Grand Prix which is unmatched in the history of GP racing

- He finished third in the wet to dry race at Mugello in 2009; a race he led for just one lap when the riders were coming into the pits to change bikes

- He missed the race last year due to leg injuries he received in a crash during Saturday morning free practice, ending a record streak of 230 successive GP starts

58. Marco Simoncelli

- Simoncelli’s victory at Mugello in 2008 was his first ever GP win in the 250cc class

- In 2009 he finished 2nd in the 250cc GP at Mugello, after battling all race long with Bautista and the eventual winner Pasini

- He finished 9th last year at Mugello after running off the track on the first lap and dropping to the back of the field

65. Loris Capirossi

- In 2000 Capirossi became the first Italian rider to win a 500cc GP at Mugello

- Since 2000 he has had four more podium finishes at Mugello, the last of which was 2nd in 2006 on the Ducati

- This will be the 21st consecutive year that he has competed at the Mugello Grand Prix

- Capirossi won the 250cc race at the San Marino GP event at Mugello in 1993

- Finished tenth last year at Mugello on the Suzuki

69. Nicky Hayden

- Hayden’s single podium finish at Mugello was third place in the tremendous race in 2006 on his way to winning the world title

- In 2007 he finished 10th, in 2008 he qualified 6th but finished in 13th after suffering technical problems

- In his first year on Ducati in 2009 he was 12th at Mugello after qualifying down in 16th place on the grid

- Last year he qualified in 4th then crashed on lap six while pushing to make up from a bad start

  3. Vale produced some magic performances over the years at­ Mugello.
    His 2004, 2005 and 2006 wins with a lacking­ horsepower Yamaha compared to the Honda's will be­ on my mind for a long time.
