Penney pondering Bradley swoop

Tue 29 Jul, 02:45 PM

Darlington boss Dave Penney believes former Sheffield Wednesday striker Jason Bradley could prove to be the ideal replacement for Tommy Wright. The powerful 19-year-old, who was released by the Owls at the beginning of the summer, is currently on trial with the Quakers and has impressed during pre-season performances against non-league opposition.

And, with Wright poised to complete his protracted move to Aberdeen subject to passing a medical, Penney has hinted he could be ready to offer trialist Bradley a permanent deal at the club

"Jason's got all the markings of Tommy. He's a big one, probably bigger than Tommy," Penney told the Northern Echo.

"He's only 19 so I wouldn't say he's ready to come straight into the team but we like the look of him.

"If Tommy's leaving then we're going to be a striker short. And Pawel Abbott's not fit and Gregg Blundell's not yet recovered from his ankle operation."
