Ipswich have also been linked with Charisteas, but Stoke are hoping to lure him to the Britannia Stadium after the 28-year-old impressed against Tony Pulis' side in a pre-season friendly.
Charisteas says he is weighing up his future as he considers Stoke's offer.
"Let's see what happens. I do not know whether Stoke is the right team for me," Charisteas told the German media.
"I have fun training with the club, feel good and want to get 100 per cent fit to play."
