Calderon - Ronaldo Or Nothing

Tue 29 Jul, 03:09 PM

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon claims that if he fails to land Cristiano Ronaldo he will not attempt to make any other signings this summer.

Calderon is eager to prise Ronaldo away from Manchester United and Real manager Bernd Schuster recently aired his concerns over his club's obsession with the Portuguese winger.

Schuster said on Tuesday morning that he would be just as happy to sign Hamburg star Rafael van der Vaart as he would Ronaldo.

However, Calderon appears to have ruled out the possibility of Van der Vaart arriving at the Bernabeu.

"Either Cristiano Ronaldo comes or nobody does," Calderon is quoted as saying in Marca.

The news could come as a major blow to Schuster, who is eager to strengthen his squad as Real prepare to defend their Primera Liga title and eye success in the UEFA Champions League.

  1. What more words out of Real Madrid!!!!! Is there nothing happening in Spain again???? Marca must be short of stories. This is not how big a club is, this is PR people working overtime with the same story.

  2. Fergie..sell the player and take the money to buy someone else...why must u keep a player that his heart and soul is not in the club..Ronaldo is unfaithful player. He forgotten what Man Utd have transform him(a world talented player).

  7. rossghww, I don't think u really know what you are saying. That RM is a mediocre club means you are JJC. By records, RM is the biggest club in the world of football. Financiall, currently, MU is the biggest. But achievement wise, RM has the upper hand, even Liverpool is bgger than MU records wise. So what are you saying. Moving to RM, for CR, it is a dream move, but to you it is not because you are not a footballer and you don't know too. So shut up your trap when people like us are talking on this site. This site should be for brains like us and not mediocres like rossghww. Or you too want to show off as a browser.

  9. English football is different from Spanish football. The fact that C. Ronaldo is doing fine in the Queen's land may not mean he can do the same in Spain. We had players who were exceptionly good in PL but are now warming the bench in Spain! C. Ronaldo should take care. I wish the 'laddie'(boy) a quick recovery.

  10. More fool them. They claim to have move on past the 'Galatico' era and yet they keep trying to lure players like Kaka, Fabregas and Ronaldo, players they aren't going to get, making them look like fools.
Just because they've won the league twice doesn't mean their squad doesn't need improving. The Spanish League has been rather weak over the last two years, thus making an average Madrid squad into league winners. All you need to do is look at their Champions League performance and that tell's the actual tale, unable to get past the first knockout stages and beaten by Roma, a team Man Utd demolished not too long ago...
They have many aging legs that need replacing, especially up front.
Personally I think they should go after targets such as David Villa and Van Dar Vert, who they actually have a chance of getting and would drastically improve the team

  12. Just to remind all you muppets that I said from day one that Ronaldo would not lower himself by moving from the Biggest and best club in the world to a mediocre side like Real Madrid. Gloat, gloat, guess I was right all along ha ha ha ha ha.
