Hibernian have signed former Chelsea midfielder Joe Keenan and French utility man Steven Thicot after successful trials.

Keenan, 26, joins after a spell in Australia with Melbourne Victory, while 21-year-old Thicot - who has represented France at age-group levels and can play in defence or midfield - was released by Nantes last month.

Hibernian manager Mixu Paatelainen told the club's official website: "Both players will, I'm sure, prove to be excellent additions to our squad.

"Joe has done very well since coming to us on trial and has impressed both in training and in games.

"Steven is a young player who shows a great deal of maturity and a fantastic approach to the game, he is a very good player who can play in a number of positions and has come through all the French national teams alongside some of the top players in the world.

"He has plenty of ability and like Joe is a very ambitious footballer, which is something I like to see."
