Liga BBVA - Arbeloa passes Real medical

Alvaro Arbeloa has passed his medical with Real Madrid, the Spanish giants have confirmed.

Arbeloa successfully completed various medical tests at the Hospital Sanitas La Moraleja in the Spanish capital on Wednesday as the 26-year-old defender puts the finishing touches on his £3.5 million move from Liverpool.

Madrid`s medical chief Carlos Diez told his club`s website: "He (Arbeloa) has undergone a standard examination and the results of all the tests are very satisfactory. He is delighted to be able to play for Real Madrid, which has been his lifelong dream. He's looking forward to joining his team-mates."

After leaving the hospital, Arbeloa travelled to the club`s Bernabeu stadium to sign his five-year contract with Madrid.

The Spain international, who was part of last summer`s successful Euro 2008-winning squad, was on Madrid`s books as a youngster before moving to Deportivo La Coruna in 2006, and then onto Liverpool six months later.

Arbeloa becomes Madrid`s seventh signing of the summer after Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema, Raul Albiol, Alvaro Negredo and Esteban Granero.

Argentina centre-back Ezequiel Garay is also a new face at the club, although he was signed from Racing Santander last summer before immediately being loaned back to the Cantabrian side.

  11. i find it funny how all the liverpool fans are slating­ michael owen , prob just gutted he`s not gonna be on­ your bench & good for 15 plus goals this season... ­ if i remember correctly you took back robbie fowler­ when he was completely past it n you were all buzzin­ about it..... i`d take owen over kuyt , babel , el­ zhar or veronin any day & at the end of the day he­ didn`t cost us anything....
