Manchester City striker Valeri Bojinov is close to moving to promoted Serie A side Parma.
Bojinov has become surplus to requirements at City following a hectic summer of transfer activity that has seen fellow strikers Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez arrive at Eastlands.
"The national team is very important for me," said 23-year-old Bojinov. "But to be in the national team you need matches. That's why I decided to move to Parma."
With Parma in need of a forward after selling Cristiano Lucarelli back to Livorno, club president Tomasso Ghirardi is hopeful of doing a deal.
"We are almost there," Ghirardi said.
"We are ready to seal a deal with the Bulgarian and it should go through very soon.
"With his arrival, we will complete the squad and let us hope we will have a good season and possibly have a bit of good luck on our side."
Bojinov's time with City has been plagued by injury, and he has only made 11 appearances since joining from Fiorentina two years ago.

I don't believe it! City are actually going to sell a player - thought they were going to buy all the professional players!
He is gonna be a world class player very soon I think, definately one to watch in Italy.
Good Luck mate - enjoyed watching you in the few games you did play.
You looked like you dad more potential in your left toe then any of the other donkeys we had.
Hope all goes well for you
Enjoyed watching him, in the few games he managed between his injuries. Wish him all the best if he does go to Parma.
youknowtheydidit I think city wil keep hughes. He is a great manager.
Sorry to see him go.
He has been so unlucky with injuries and looked really good when he finally got a chance to play, hopefully after the year loan he will come back and show whoever the new manager is at City what a good player he is.
A superb player who has been unlucky with injuries. I hope he does well at Parma.
