BMW are looking forward to their home race in Oschersleben this weekend with optimism.
Reigning world champion Andy Priaulx, who drives for the German manufacturer, claimed four victories at Oschersleben between 2003 and 2007.
"My personal memories are of wins, and also the emotions of 2005," he said. "That year I stood on the podium alongside Alex Zanardi when he won his first WTCC race - there was not a dry eye at the track."
Local hero Joerg Mueller won there twice, in 2003 and 2006.
"I just can't wait for my home race. The 15 points I scored at Brands Hatch came at the perfect moment," he commented.
"I'm far from giving up the fight for the title. Now I have to score as many points as possible in Oschersleben, though I'm aware this will be no easy task with 70 kilos of handicap weight."
Zanardi's 2005 win was the first after the crash that cost him both legs.
"Obviously my relationship with Oschersleben is a very special one," he said. "Being back on the highest step of the podium there, for the first time after my accident, will always remain unforgettable.
"But there's no reason for me to only look back. Following my good recent results I now want to score again in Germany."
