Reaction from the fourth day at Flushing Meadows, where unheralded Frenchwoman Julie Coin stunned the world number one Ana Ivanovic.
World number 188 Julie Coin after shocking world number one Ana Ivanovic: "I'm just enjoying the moment. I don't realise yet that I beat the number one in the world. I don't realise that I played at the big court. I don't know how I'm going sleep tonight. I don't know when I will realise everything. Maybe at the end the tournament when I'm going to be done with it."
Coin on her third round opponent Amelie Mauresmo, with whom she shares a coach: "I know that she was number one in the world and I know she's a great player. I am just really proud to play her in the next match."
Dinara Safina on the change of coach that has seen her reach six finals, and capture three titles, in the past three months: "Last year I knew that after the US Open I was going to stop [working] with my ex coach. I need to thank Ivan Ljubicic because he advised me [about Zeljko Krajan]. I would never imagine that one tennis coach would have so much patience for me. I would scream, cry, whatever, and he would say 'okay, let's go. Keep on going'."
Sixth seed Andy Murray after battling past Frenchman Michael Llodra: "He will give anyone a tough match. Very rarely will he lose easily. The most pleasing thing for me was that each time I got broken in the fourth set was that I came back straightaway. But I thought that the whole match mentally was tough and I dealt with it well."
American James Blake on whether or not he's watching fellow Harvard alumni Barack Obama at the Democatic National Convention: "I watched it a little bit here and there the last couple of nights and I read about it, and I'm proud of that Harvard man. Harvard graduate school, but we'll claim him."
Rafael Nadal on his time off after wining the singles gold medal at the Beijing Olympics: "I forgot a little bit about tennis. I played golf on Tuesday. Now I'm in the third round. I'm happy. For me it's a very important tournament here."
Two-time former champion Venus Williams after her demolition of Paraguay's Rossana De Los Rios: "I guess [I'm] kind of overdue, but you've got to win [the title] to deserve it. I won't forget [the 2001 title] but I'd like to have a more recent memory, as of like '08. So that's pretty much the goal."
Fourth seed Serena Williams on her third-round opponent Ai Sugiyama: "She's pretty much relentless. I better be ready. That girl is a tough cookie."
Mardy Fish after defeating 24th seed Paul-Henri Mathieu in four sets: "This is my ninth US Open and from 2002 on I think I lost in the second round [each time]. This is the first time I made the third round and it feels good."
Serbia's Ivanovic on the disappointing second-round loss: "If you asked me if I'm playing like number one, probably not, but I can't judge too much on that because I really haven't had a chance to practice. This kind of loss is just incentive to work harder, to go back on the court and to keep working hard and practising and improving."
Former world number one Mauresmo about the recent improvement in her game: "It's not quite there yet. I'm enjoying myself more on the court. I'm having a little bit more adrenaline out there. It's a good start for something better. The level is better but it's not quite where I would love it for now. But I would say it's on the way."
