Snooker historian Chris Turner looks back on what happened on this week in snooker history, including Liang Wenbo's professional debut.
27 September 1992 - FOULDS WINS AGAIN AFTER FOUR YEARS
After four years without a tournament victory, Neal Foulds finally collected another trophy. He won the Regal Masters in Motherwell by beating Gary Wilkinson 10-8 in the final.
27 September 2005 LIANG'S PRO DEBUT
Chinese star, Liang Wenbo, made his debut on the main pro tour. He lost 2-5 to Rory McLeod in the first qualifying round of the Grand Prix at Prestatyn.
29 September 1996 - McMANUS MISSES OUT AGAIN AS EBDON TAKES REGAL MASTERS
Alan McManus reached the Regal Scottish Masters final at Motherwell for the second time in four years but once again ended up with the runner up prize as Peter Ebdon beat him 9-6 to take the trophy.
29 September 2002 - RONNIE TURNS THE TABLES ON HIGGINS
For the fourth time in five years, Ronnie O'Sullivan reached the final of the Regal Scottish Masters and for the third time his opponent was John Higgins. John was the defending champion having beaten 'The Rocket' in the 2001 final but Ronnie got his revenge and ran out a 9-4 winner at Glasgow's Thistle Hotel. With the ending of tobacco sponsorship this would prove to be the last time this event was held.
30 September 2007 DOHERTY RETAINS IRISH PRO TITLE
For the second year running, Ken Doherty, won the VC Poker Irish Professional Championship, beating Fergal O'Brien 9-2 in the final at the Red Cow Exhibition Centre in Dublin.
1 October 1989 - 'INTERNATIONAL' HAT TRICK FOR STEVE!
At Trentham Gardens in Stoke-on-Trent, Steve Davis won the BCE International with a 9-4 victory over Stephen Hendry in the final. It was Steve's third successive victory in this tournament and his sixth in the nine year history of the event under various sponsors' names.
3 October 1999 - FIRST MAJOR TITLE FOR STEVENS
At Motherwell Civic Centre, Matthew Stevens won his first major title as a pro when he beat John Higgins 9-7 in the final of the Regal Masters. It was the second year running that Higgins had been the runner-up and the fourth successive year that a Scot had lost in the final.
3 October 2008 ANOTHER MAXIMUM FOR COPE
Jamie Cope made his second official 147 break in professional competition in a match against Mark Williams in the last 16 of the Roewe Shanghai Masters which he lost 5-2.
