FIA WTCC and the Asian Le Mans will feature together in the same race meeting, at the WTCC Race of Japan, which will take place at the Okayama International Circuit at the end of October.
While WTCC's 21st and 22nd rounds will be, as usual, raced on Sunday afternoon on the 50-km distance, the Asian Le Mans will run two 500-km races, one on Saturday at 12.45 and the other on Sunday morning at 9.05.
We are very honoured and proud to come back to Japan," championship promoter Marcello Lotti said. "Our first visit in 2008 was blessed by a success that even exceeded our expectations in terms of attendance at the track and media coverage.
"This year we aim to go even further. With the addition of the Asian Le Mans and hopefully milder weather, we are confident that the 2009 WTCC Race of Japan may definitely plant the seed of touring car fever in Japan.
Seiji Ara (Wiechers-Sport), Nobuteru Taniguchi (Proteam Motorsport) and Masaki Kano (Liqui Moly Team Engstler) will all join the championship for their home event.
