The Tennessee Titans, without a win from the opening six games of the NFL season, will promote Vince Young to starting quarterback, head coach Jeff Fisher said.

Local media reports had quoted Titans owner Bud Adams as urging Fisher to replace starter Kerry Collins with Young. The coach said it had been a collective decision.

"It is our decision. We don't make decisions as individuals. We collectively make decisions," Fisher said, adding that Young was now likely to get a good run as starter.

"As far as the future is concerned, I'm not one of those coaches who's going to have musical chairs at the quarterback position. He's going to be our starter.

"I've got two starting quarterbacks on this roster but the fact that we're 0-6, we're going to go ahead and make the change."

Collins, 36, became the starter when Young was injured last September and helped Tennessee reach the playoffs with a 13-3 record.

The Titans took Young, who impressed with the University of Texas, in the 2006 draft with their first pick, the third overall. He was their starter in his first two seasons in the NFL.
