Midfielder Darcy Blake will miss Plymouth's next three Championship games after losing his appeal against his dismissal against Ipswich last Saturday.
Blake, on loan from Cardiff, was given his marching orders with six minutes remaining following his challenge on Ipswich's Alan Quinn.
Boss Paul Sturrock felt the decision was harsh and appealed to the Football Association to overturn the red card, a move which failed.
It means Blake will sit out Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough, the home clash with Doncaster and the match at Leicester on November 21.
