Southampton youngster Andrew Surman can't wait for the "proudest moment of my career" after St Mary's was chosen to host England Under-21s.Surman is desperately hoping to be a part of the squad that will come up against the Republic of Ireland in a European Championships qualifier on February 5, but he knows he will have to maintain his impressive form if he is to feature.
"It is always an honour to be called up for your country at any level but to play in your home town would be something special," he told the club's official website.
"If I am selected it will be great for my family and it will be a very proud moment for me if I play any part in the game.
"But I don't expect Stuart Pearce to play me just because the game is on my home ground. The most important thing is that England win the game.
"If I do feature it will be great and one of the proudest moments of my life but if not then I will understand because the main thing is that England qualify."
