Tranmere caretaker-manager Les Parry was disappointed his side were unable to overcome Aldershot after a hard-fought FA Cup tie at Prenton Park finished goalless.
Rovers were on top for long periods of the third-round clash, but could not press their advantage home and now face a tricky replay at the Recreation Ground.
Parry said: "We're disappointed not to be through. We created some good chances, particularly in the first half and if we had taken any of them I'm sure we would have won very comfortably.
"It became a bit scrappy later on and we became a bit over-eager. We also allowed ourselves to become frustrated and our final ball was not good enough.
"But it's not over yet and I'm sure we can make a bold fist of things in the replay.
"n the end I suppose I've got to be happy with a clean sheet, but not with the overall performance."
