Brentford manager Andy Scott hailed rookie defender Leon Legge after his goal against Walsall sent the Bees through to the third round of the FA Cup.

The big centre-back, in only his fifth game for the Bees, rose highest in the penalty area with just 13 minutes on the clock to powerfully head home the only goal of the game from John Bostock's corner.

Legge, signed from non-League Tonbridge Angels in the summer, then showed his worth at the other end with a superb last-ditch tackle to deny Walsall's Steve Jones in the dying minutes.

Scott said: "The tackle was as good as the goal and to be honest I thought Leon was outstanding.

"He makes no mistake when he heads the ball and, when he does, anyone who gets in his way certainly knows about it."
