Fernando Alonso has a secret agreement to join Ferrari for four years from 2011, according to Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The twice Formula One world champion has never hidden his desire to go to the Italian team and Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo recently fuelled the ongoing speculation by refusing to rule out the Spaniard's future arrival.
The newspaper said the deal had several get-out clauses for both sides but added that Alonso could join Ferrari even earlier, in 2010, if 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen follows this year's disappointing season with another bad campaign.
By contrast, Alonso was in impressive form after returning to Renault following a difficult season at McLaren, despite not having a car competitive enough to challenge for the title.
The 27-year-old won two races, in Singapore and Japan, and finished fifth in the standings for Renault, with whom he won the 2005 and 2006 world championships.
Ferrari have Raikkonen and this year's title runner-up Felipe Massa under contract until the end of 2010, while Alonso's current deal with Renault also runs for two more seasons.
A Ferrari spokesman would not comment on the reports, apart from saying: "We can only repeat that we have two drivers signed to the end of 2010".

Well when the Santander sponsorship deal was moved from McLaren to Ferrari it was pretty obvious that Alonso would be on the move soon to the red cars.
.
I wonder if Kimi has made some decision about his future? He didn't really seem 100% on the boil this year.
.
But would Massa play No.2 to Alonso? Would Alonso play No.2 to Massa? This could be interesting.
Mikeq, your comment about marnio, marion, bernard, nevery, touronroot is spot on but have to tell your their all from the same user copying and pasting the same @#$% over and over again. Whoever it is, is a real sad git that needs to get a life.
So here we go again, another season, spoilt brat alonso going to the cheats of F1, well who would have thought that. They will have to find another driver willing to be no2 for the spoilt brat of F1. Massa or Kimi won;t want that.
Catalin, thats exactly what I meant, Alonso will replace Kimi and Massa will be relegated to number two driver like he was with Schumi.
MikeQ, I have to disagree vith you mate.
If Alonso will sign for Ferrari, and he`ll have the lead role in the team, my guess us that not Massa will be sacked, but Kimi will.
Kimi won`t stay at Ferrari in as the second driver of the team, so what you said doesen`t make sense.
golf in the kingdom hijo puta
I kind of agree with you Darien, it would make for great races, but I think poor old FM would end up getting @#$% on.by the team, as I think they'd revert to M.S. mode and just support the lead driver which F.A. would insist on being.
i hope ferrari will drop kimi..& mclaren take him back to beat alonslow and 'mass'a
they`ll be silly to have this egotistic little knobb let him stay where he is
MikeQ... you sums up the feeling of tifosi... we are embarassed by the stupid comments that the fools are making. You are right. Get over it and start thinking about 2009.
Just to add EVEN more clarity to stecalswain's comment Melted Rubber, Santander are spanish, Alonso (douche as you call him) is spanish.......water is wet.
sorry for the humour but hope it is starting to make sense.
FFS Marion, give up with that xmas glock @#$%, you've plastered the same nonsense on several boards - still smarting heavily over last season's results. Get a life, get over it, get some english lessons.
Marnio, Marion, Why do you do this ? Do think people laugh with you finding you funny? Do you think the constant copying and pasting of almost incoherent nonsense makes people think "He's clever, really knows about F1" Because they don't, almost without exception other contributors think you are not quite right in the head.
90% of the people who contribute here may have different points of view on many of the subjects and that's good but they don't repeat them over & over again, in threads that they have no relevance to, that's not normal. You along with Bernard/NeverY/Mourontoot should sit back and have a think about why you do it. Sadly you all appear to be Ferrari supporters a fact which the other Tifosi find embarrassing. Join in the discussion, disagree with people by all means, that's the whole idea. But make your point sensibly, coherently and once, you might then find that other contributors begin to respect your opinions instead of treating you with contempt.
Sick of hearing this "spy" @#$% that Maclaren received penalties for, after all Ferrari are to blame for leaking the documents in the first place "a plant/ploy" Lets all remember which team got £68M more than Maclaren for blackmailing the FIA to stop in F1 and not forming a splinter race group. Ferrari seem to get all the dosh, all the complaints of other teams penalized and still end up loosing the drivers championship. Cast your mind back Ferrari fans....... Brazil......Massa, crossing the line, the camera view going out live from the Ferrari garage, seeing the celebrations as them "thinking" Hamilton was in 6th postion, then seeing the penny drop when realising he wasnt.....alas.....he 5th. LMFAO
If it's a secret deal, how come the world and his wife know about F. Alonso going to Ferrari? The Italian Press are having a field day with this sort of 'exclusive'. Another was 'Carlos Slim has bought Honda'. Make of it what you will, what will be will be.
MARION.......I'll have wat ever your on lmao, u think Timo Glock ( German ) would let Hamiltons son ( British ) past for a World title........1 (one) word.......CUCKOO
Melted Rubber...... they want the douche on thier team cos of the coffers comming from new sponsors Santander.....keep up ffs
He'll be a cryin again when team m8(who ever)starts finnishing races b4 him lol....PMSL.......LMFAO
Why would Ferrari want a d0uche on their team?
Come 2011, he'll be long gone....
Rich L,
You are quite correct. No team principle in his right mind would cut a deal with a driver 2 seasons in advance. Too many questions about money, competitiveness, sponsorship, and even if a driver will be healthy in two years. This is just silly speculation and quesswork.
