Morgenstern wins Four Hills opener

Overall World Cup leader Thomas Morgenstern captured the first event of the 59th Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf.
The Austrian was in a class of his own at the German venue as he produced jumps of 131.5 meters and 138 for a total score of 289.6, leaving him a full 16.5 points ahead of Finland's Matti Hautamaeki who jumped from seventh to second with his second jump.
Austrian Manuel Fettner was third with 264 points and Austria had five jumpers in the top 10.
Morgenstern has won has won four straight World Cup events this winter but is gunning for his first Four Hills title.
Ski Jumping most prestigious annual event continues in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on Saturday before moving to Innsbruck (January 3) and finishing in Bischofshofen (January 6).
