Norwich boss Glenn Roeder has bolstered his Canaries defence with the two-month loan capture of young Middlesbrough defender Matthew Bates.Bates, who has only just returned to fitness following a knee injury, will stay with the Championship side until April 28.
Bates actually had a spell with Norwich's arch-rivals Ipswich at the back end of 2006 before injury cut short his Portman Road stay.
The 21-year-old made his Premier League debut for Boro in 2006 and has gone on to make 19 top-flight appearances for the North East outfit.
Middlesbrough have inserted a 24-hour release clause for Bates, who could now make his Canaries debut against Preston this weekend.
