In-form Brentford had to settle for a point against dogged Notts County despite dominating for long spells in a 0-0 draw at Griffin Park. The Londoners always looked the more likely to break the deadlock but County were resolute throughout with Mike Edwards turning in a solid performance.
The closest Brentford came to ending the stalemate was when Ricky Shakes' cross come shot forced Kevin Pilkington to back peddle and tip over from under the angle.
The Bees' Alan Connell always looked lively and twice tested the visitors' keeper with shots from the edge of the box which he did well to hold.
But the Magpies looked dangerous on the break and home keeper Ben Hamer was forced into a superb save to deny Ali Gibb after 24 minutes.
The midfielder also went close in the 68th minute, flashing an angled drive just wide of the upright.
